1. How do I get my neighbor to clean up junk or debris on his property?

Contact the Municipal Center at 734-287-6550, and an Ordinance Officer will be dispatched.

2. Why did I get a ticket or warning?

Any ordinance violation can result in the issuance of a warning or ticket. You may view our Ordinances Online.

3. How do I fight a ticket?

Go to court. There is a telephone number on the ticket to set up a court date. You must call within 10 days of the date on the ticket.

4. Why did someone cut my lawn?

If you received a ticket for high grass or weeds, you are automatically placed on a lawn maintenance list. If you wish to be removed from the maintenance list you will need to sign a letter stating that you will maintain the property. The letter can be obtained at the Customer Assistance Counter.

5. What is this lawn maintenance invoice for?

There is a charge for the City cutting your lawn, removing junk and debris, and board ups.

6. Where do I pay a ticket?

Go to the 23rd District Court, which is located west of City Hall, next to the Midtown Fire Station.

7. Why didn’t I receive a warning before I was issued a ticket?

Warnings and/or tickets are issued at the discretion of the ordinance officer.

8. Is it legal for my neighbor to have a garage sale every week?

No. If you observe this, contact the Municipal Building at 734-287-6550.

9. How many garage sales can I have?

Two per year. This does not include the citywide garage sale.

10. Is it alright to park on the lawn?

No, this is an ordinance violation and you can be ticketed. You can check Ordinances Online.

11. Do my trash and recycle cans have to be stored in the back yard?

Yes; you can check City of Taylor Ordinances Online.

12. Can I keep a recreational vehicle in the driveway?

Yes, but only for 48 hours. After 48 hours, it is an ordinance violation, and you can be ticketed.
